MISSION: Finish Saving 5 Lives + Fund Baby Phoenix's Life Saving Vet Care!

You all SAVED beautiful Corinne, the pregnant mare stuck in the tattered halter that we were last fundraising for... in the NICK of time!

Her baby, now named Phoenix, was born in the kill pen. This exposed him to all sorts of disease- and so just a few days after arriving to quarantine he was rushed to the vet because we was showing signs of sepsis!!

We now need your help once again to cover the expenses of a plasma transfusion and all the other treatment Phoenix has received in order to save his (very new!) life!

His bill is $6,500, and we still need to cover the rest of the initial fundraiser for this group since we bailed them early (and it's a GOOD THING we did- because if we had waited little Phoenix would not have made it!).

EACH of the horses saved in this group are still in need of sponsorships to help cover their monthly hay bill as well!

Some more info on sepsis for those interested:

Neonatal sepsis, also known as septicemia, is a life-threatening blood infection that can lead to severe complications, secondary infections, and is associated with high mortality. It is often a sequela to failure of passive transfer of colostrum, maternal disease, or specifically in Phoenix's case, diarrhea. Early sepsis may manifest as lethargy, depression, fever, tachycardia (increased heart rate), reddened mucous membranes, and in later stages joint swelling, pneumonia, and neurological disease.

Phoenix exhibited signs of early sepsis. He had fever, was mildly tachycardic, had bright red mucous membranes and sclera, a prolonged capillary refill time, and yellow liquid diarrhea. His initial diagnostics yielded an acute inflammatory response and electrolyte imbalances from the ongoing diarrhea.

Please donate if you can at all, every single dollar adds up! It is only thanks to generous people like YOU that we are able to do this important work and change the lives of mustangs who find themselves in the absolute worst situations!
