Corinne's Story:
Not much of Corinne’s story is known to us yet. We know she was stuck wearing a tattered halter that had been on her face likely ever since she was originally adopted from the BLM, even though she was still wild and wants nothing to do with humans thus far.
Corinne was pregnant and gave birth to baby Phoenix in the McLean Texas kill pen. He contracted sepsis and then pyloric ulcers that eventually lead to pneumonia and ultimately his euthanasia. It was a trying time for Corinne and she had to go to the vet with Phoenix multiple times, and no mom wants to see her baby sick & struggling, much less lose them.
Despite these tribulations, Corinne has a beautifully wild spirit. She is a boss mare and has become a wonderful auntie to little Aspen, a filly saved with the group prior to Corinne's!
Corinne is much younger than she looked in her photos from the kill pen, and since she arrived home we have gotten that tattered halter off of her beautiful face so she can FEEL free once again. Soon, she will leave quarantine and join our big herd. We look forward to seeing her find connection and solace in the other foals within the herd since losing Phoenix.
