This Is What Freedom Looks Like for a Rescued Wild Horse

There are no words in this video. No narration, no music, no voice telling you what to feel. Just an afternoon at Nirvana Mustang Sanctuary — exactly as it sounds. Wind through the grass. Hooves in shallow water. Whinnies to friends. The low, soft sounds a herd makes when it is at peace. We made this video because sometimes the best argument for what we do is not an argument at all. It's just this. A few minutes of something quiet, something real, and something worth fighting for. Where These Horses Came From Every horse you see in this video has a story that looked nothing like what you're watching. America's wild mustangs are gathered by helicopter roundups run by...

Why Texas Horse Rescues are More Important Than Ever - and How The New World Screwworm Could Change History

Something big is happening right now. And most people don't even know it yet. A flesh-eating parasite called the New World Screwworm was just confirmed in Texas. In response, the United States Department of Agriculture did something that hasn't happened in decades — they shut down all live animal exports to Mexico. Cattle, horses, pigs. All of it. Effective immediately. For the agriculture world, this is a huge economic story. But for horses? It could be a turning point in history. What Is the New World Screwworm? Where do I even start?! Between having my first two children, moving back to Texas, settling in, expanding our acreage TWICE now since the move, and attending monthly auctions to save as many wild mustangs as we can- I have admittedly lacked any time to make updates here in the blog since the last one which was.. February 2024 Sanctuary Update!!

In February we saved two Reservation mustangs from the Fabrizius Kill Pen in Eaton, CO. They are Yin and Yang! We are so grateful to have saved their lives just in the nick of time! We got some snow and captured some of our favorite snow pics YET! Just look how cute Alpine baby Caliber is showing off her tiny teeth. This one of Mocha and Scarlet is simply the BEST, and is available as a canvas for the walls in your home! To get one, click here. A HUGE happy moment this month was Rain, our Alpine mare that injured her eye and had to have an enucleation, returned HOME!  On the way home from getting Rain, we also...

January 2024 Sanctuary Update!!

January was a HUGE month! We had some volunteers out to do some very necessary repairs, replacing two gates, one that a transporter took out adding two new gates between pastures, and patching several areas of fencing! Progress was also made on the hay barn, as all of the trusses went up and now we are just waiting on the tin for the roof! Woohoo! Our BLM Oregon Mares got to go out into the pasture with the other BLM horses, which was a HUGE and exciting thing to witness as they finally get to be with their love, Sundancer, who has long since bonded with the mares since their arrival! Deni, our beautiful dun owner surrender who came in...
