I am thrilled to introduce you to the magnificent horses of Nirvana Mustang Sanctuary pasture by pasture, herd by herd! We are home to 65 rescued mustangs, each with their own unique story and personality. They live in harmony within their herds, each pasture a testament to their resilience and spirit. First on our introduction list is our initial group of Alpine Wild Horses! These majestic creatures are a sight to behold, embodying the true essence of freedom and wilderness. But here's the best part - YOU can become a part of their journey! By becoming a sponsor, you're not just donating, you're adopting from a distance. Your sponsored horse gets to live out their days in freedom, surrounded by...
Ghost is an adorable jet black mustang gelding with two white legs and some white on his face! We are unsure of his age and his HMA of origin, but we hope to find out and update his story. What we do know- Ghost was with his adopter for two years, and in those two years his adopter was only able to pet his face. Any time he tried to touch Ghost anywhere else he would bolt off. So, his adopter wanted to return him to the BLM and was going to heal him all the way back to Oklahoma. Thankfully he contacted some mustang advocates instead and they reached out to us to see if we would be able...
Nova is a gorgeous bay mare, she is 16 years old and definitely shows her wisdom! Nova enjoys hanging out with Sundancer, and running and playing, as seen in her photos. She has a playful spirit and a big heart!
Nova came here with Deni, and the two are bonded. We look forward to being able to turn Deni out with the herd so they can enjoy being together again. Nova is a bit overweight, so we look forward to getting her in shape and seeing her live out many years here at the sanctuary!
Nova is available for sponsorship HERE.
Deni is a beautiful dun 6 year old mare! She's got a thick dorsal stripe, a stripe on her shoulder, and some unique leg striping. We are unsure of her original HMA at this time, but we hope to find out and come back with that information later. Deni was given sanctuary by her owner, who was downsizing her herd. Our first priority with Deni is to get some weight on her- she has ribs showing and is pretty thin overall. She has some issues with her stifle- it gets stiff and sore. We will be working to rehab that and provide any care she needs to live pain free. Deni was "cowboy" broke by someone getting on her back from their horses back,...
We were contacted by a local trainer, letting us know that this beautiful bay roan mustang was free to a good home. He was going to be trained as a riding horse for one of the best local outfits that offers horseback rides to the public, but he remained very reactive during his initial training with them and the owners thought he would benefit from a gentle hand. He has been round penned, haltered and tied, but be doesn’t lead and he certainly shows lots of stress indicators about being touched or even approached, so we’ll be starting from scratch with him and also showing his whole training process on YouTube- in order to promote using kind training methods based...
