September 2026 Auction Recap: We Showed Up, You Showed Up, and They Made It Out

Every single month we walk into an auction knowing it is going to be hard. We see things no one should have to see. We make decisions in seconds. And every single month — you show up for us, and for them.

September was no different. And in every way that matters, September was extraordinary.

What happened over the last 13 days was more than a rescue mission. It was a community coming together to say: not on our watch. XX horses came home to Nirvana. Every single one of them will live out the rest of their lives on thousands of acres of protected land — because of you.

This is their story. And yours.

Dynamite & His Family

Dynamite walked into that pen like he owned it. Even at his most terrified — eyes wide, nostrils flaring — there was something about him that made everyone stop and look. He carried himself like a horse who had never stopped being wild on the inside, no matter what the outside world had put him through.

His family was with him. That’s the part that made it impossible to walk away. They stayed close — like they knew that if they lost sight of each other, it might be forever. We weren’t going to let that happen.

Dynamite and his whole family are at Nirvana now. Safe. Together. And they are never going back.

Commander & His Family

His name says everything. Commander didn’t just stand there. He positioned himself between his family and every threat in that pen — pacing, watching, never resting. He was doing the only thing he knew how to do: protect what was his.

A horse like that in a kill pen breaks your heart in a very specific way. Because you are watching something magnificent being treated like it has no value at all.

Commander and his family are all safe at Nirvana now. He is still watching over them. The only difference is now — on 6,000 acres of sanctuary land — he can finally rest.

The 5 Reservation Mustang Recipient Mares

These five mares came to us through a different path — but the need was just as urgent. Reservation mustangs face a crisis most people never hear about. They are overlooked, underfunded, and running out of time and options.

This month we were able to step in and give five of them a future. They are in quarantine now — taking in their new surroundings, figuring out that the danger is finally over. Their story is still being written. And you’re part of it.

Horizon

Some horses you see from across the pen and you already know. Horizon was like that. A BLM mustang — wild-born, government-rounded-up, and somehow still standing tall in the middle of all of that chaos.

She had no idea what was waiting for her at the end of that auction. We made sure it was us.

Horizon is in quarantine now. Decompressing. Learning that not every human is something to run from. She has a long way to go — but she has all the time in the world now, and thousands of acres waiting for her on the other side of it.

Promise & Baby Legacy

Promise came in with something extra precious beside her — Legacy. A baby who should never have been in an auction pen to begin with.

There is nothing quite like watching a mare in a kill pen try to keep her foal close. The way she positions her body. The way she never takes her eyes off her baby for a single second. Promise knew exactly what was at stake.

They are together at Nirvana now. Promise is exhaling. Legacy is growing. And the name we gave that baby could not be more fitting — because that is exactly what this community gave them both.

Jubilee

Jubilee is a BLM mustang mare — which means she was born wild, on public land, protected by federal law. And she still ended up in a kill pen.

That fact never stops being infuriating. And it never stops being the reason we keep showing up.

We named her Jubilee because that is what we felt the moment she was safe. Pure joy. Pure relief. The kind of feeling you only get when something that could have gone very wrong went very, very right.
