She once roamed wild, gracing the beauty of her land with her leadership and stewarding her family.
Generations followed her. Learned the ways of a wild horse.
She slept under a blanket of stars, the cool breeze rustling her mane, surrounded by the relaxed breathing of her family.
But all of that was taken away.
In broad daylight a helicopter came and swept her and her family into a frenzy.
It chased them for miles until they were surrounded by bars on all sides with nowhere to flee. Thrashing, terrified, panicking wild horses from other bands all around them.
She was separated from her family, from her babies, and loaded onto a trailer.
She arrived a place as cold as the winter snow.
She never saw her family again.
She had a few mares with her that were the same age her from her family, but no one else.
After what felt like an eternity, someone bought her.
That piece of her story remains a mystery.
She may have had to endure training, all based on fear.
She may have been bought with the intent of making someone money.
But then, she was dumped at the Bowie TX Auction where kill buyers buy all of the wild horses to ship to slaughter in Mexico.
Lucky for her.... her brand caught my eye. The Nirvana community rallied.
We brought her home.
Home for GOOD.
Soon, she will have a clean bill of health and be released to run free once again.
Slowly, the wounds of the past will fade and she will truly heal.
