These 5 reservation mustang mares came in with a HUGE group of 50+ mares who all came off of a recipient farm...what is that?
That is a place where very rich people pay to have an embryo carried by another mare that is not the mother, until birth. The mares that carry these embryos are called Recipient Mares. They are solely used for breeding, year after year after year...
Until they're too old to carry babies safely, too worn out, too wild due to years of horrible experiences by the hand of man, or newer, better recipient mares come along.
This is the second time in a year that we've seen a massive group of recipient mares dumped at the Bowie TX Auction.
These ladies continually pulled my attention all day Friday and Saturday... I didn't think they were likely to be mustangs at first, coming off a recip farm, so I spent my time focused on Dynamite's family and the other BLM branded family & bonded friends.
Finally, I had to take a closer look, and here's what I realized...
I added all 5 of them to our list immediately.
And the rest... is history. The Nirvana Family saw their story, took action to HELP THEM, and together we saved them.
Right now, they are in quarantine. They'll gain weight, get healthy, and realize that they are finally truly SAFE. No more carrying babies to line men's pockets. No more scary experiences.
Only peace and freedom that was stripped from them at some point in their past. They're together, where they've always been, just how they experienced so much hardship.
We believe they deserve some kindness from humans, after all they've endured- that's why we think anyone should be honored to support their life with us in sanctuary 🐴
