Max's Story:
Max is a gorgeous sorrel BLM mustang gelding. We are unsure of his HMA of origin but one thing is for sure- this boy has been through a LOT in his life! He and his best friend Bella have been together most of their lives and found themselves in the McLean TX Kill Pen with a ship to slaughter date of September 24th, 2024. Luckily for them, you mustang angels stepped in and SAVED THEIR LIVES!!
Mac is still wearing a halter from when he was first adopted by the BLM. Max’s halter even has a lead rope clip still attached that the lead rope broke off of long long ago. Whoever adopted him failed to train him after having the halter put on in a chute when they were first picked up from the Bureau of Land Management, and now Max has had a halter stuck on his face for who knows how long!!!
We are making great progress towards getting this halter off of Max’s face as he realizes humans will no longer hurt him but bring him yummy food and treats instead. He will readily eat out of a bucket in our hands and next we will work on allowing him to accept touch to his face so we can get this halter removed! He will then get to decide if he wants any human interaction or not.
