Bella's Story:
Bella is a beautiful bay mustang mare who is extremely bonded to her best friend Max! The two of them have been together for most of their lives.
Bella landed in the McLean TX kill pen with a ship to slaughter date of September 24th, 2024. Mustang angels stepped in for her and we were able to save her from shipping to slaughter!!
Bella had an old halter on her face that had been there so long it is falling apart, and she is still not halter trained or willing to be touched by a human! This is a prime example of mustang training gone wrong, and how these horses can suffer when humans training efforts fail.
We worked diligently to gain her trust and remove her halter- she made big strides approaching us with a peaceful and calm expression and eating feed out of a bucket we’re holding, then we progressed to touching her face and messing with the halter so as to remove it.
Bella is a beautiful girl and she is fiercely bonded to her friends within her herd. It is so beautiful to see!!
