Selene's Story:

Selene was born a wild mustang, protected by federal law.

But that protection didn't stop her from ending up in the sale ring at Bowie, Texas — heavily pregnant, alone, and surrounded by kill buyers. Kill buyers are paid by the pound at the slaughter plant, so to them a pregnant mare is just more weight.

We couldn't let her go. We brought Selene home and gave her a quiet, safe place to rest and wait for her baby.

Then her baby boy arrived — born safe, never knowing a kill pen, a sale ring, or a slaughter truck.

Now?

Selene grazes in the open pasture while her son naps in the grass beside her. He's curious, fluffy, and absolutely sure the whole world was made for him.
