ROAR Mare's Story:
This beautiful BLM mare was bailed out of the Bowie TX kill pen by a kind soul! She went to ROAR where she was supposed to receive sanctuary.
ROAR is where over 100 animals went after being "saved" and many starved and died. Sick, old, and thin horses were all turned out with the herd, and stallions ran with the whole group as well, getting almost all of the mares there pregnant. None of them had enough food, nor any kind of care.
Once law enforcement caught wind of the starving horses, they ordered some to be relinquished. 65 ROAR horses were moved to STR where they would undergo a refeeding program and were supposed to go on to good homes after all court situations were completed.
Instead, Rail lazy H contractor Jackie Hughes, the same woman responsible for rounding up all of the Alpine Wild Horses, conspired with ROAR owner and came up with a bogus backdated bill of sale. At first, this bill of sale was not going to be honored by law enforcement. After a meeting with JH, local sheriff decided to honor the bill of sale, and all 65 animals were ordered to be returned to Jackie.
Group by group they were put BACK through the notorious Cleburne TX auction, where legitimate rescues and sanctuaries had to step up YET AGAIN to save these innocent lives.
We are so grateful that this beautiful mare has ended up here and that she and her baby to be can experience the FREEDOM and the CARE they deserve!
