Luna the Reservation Mare's Story:
This young mustang mare was rounded up from a reservation and ended up in an auction and then ended up in the hands of CO kill pen owner Jason Fabrizius.
Being only two and in a kill pen it was harrowing to think of this beauty being lost to slaughter!!! Luckily, the amazing Nirvana family stepped up and got her bailed by her ship date of March 10th, then we were able to get her HOME on March 15th, 2024.
She arrived quiet, confident, and completely embracing the peaceful nature of her new quiet home! She was skinny & a little beat up when she arrived, but thankfully she was not sick. Luna is quite wild, she does not know what feed is nor does she like ANY kind of feed, and she prefers to stay as far away from humans as possible which is just fine with us as she will get to live life on her own terms here!
Once she started gaining weight, it seemed like Luna was pregnant! Sure enough, on May 20th 2024 she gave birth to her mini me, a little filly named Cielo that looks JUST like her!
Luna and Cielo joined the herd in July 2024 along with Celeste and were quickly taken in by Billy Jack and his mare Cheyenne. To this day their group is inseparable!
