Daybreak's Story:
This cute, curious boy ended up in an auction and then ended up in the hands of Colorado kill pen owner Jason Fabrizius.
He was on the lot for TWO WEEKS- we noticed he was listed the day our transport picked up Yin & Yang (our first two February Kill Pen rescues) off the same lot! it's so surprising that no one had saved him in weeks of being at the kill pen especially when he was listed as started to ride and clearly boasting saddle marks across his withers from a poorly fitting saddle rubbing him for an abundant amount of time. With the help of our incredibly compassionate Nirvana Family we were able to pull this boy just before his shipping date and bring him HOME to Nirvana!
Daybreak came home on February 22nd, 2024. This youngster arrived TALL, handsome, and so so uncertain of humans, which is just heartbreaking considering he has obviously been ridden even though he never was taught that he can feel safe around humans!

Daybreak has now come around to enjoy face pets and neck scratches. he really enjoys napping in the midday sun! We look forward to getting to know this boy even better 🥰
2026 UPDATE:
Daybreak is absolutely thriving at Nirvana. He has grown into a full adult horse now. He does not care for much human interaction since he has been out with the big herd... but that is 100% okay with us!
We pride ourselves on allowing America's Wild Horses who once faced slaughter to live the lives THEY want to lead. Wild and free, on their terms.
Daybreak is part of a bachelor boy band right now, but we expect that in the next few years he will gather a band of mares and create his own family.
