Gypsy's Story:
Gypsy was born in 2015! We found her listed at the McLean Texas Kill Pen, and set to ship to slaughter on June 7, 2024. She was originally from the Indian Lakes Nevada HMA!
Luckily, the Nirvana family stepped up for her, and we were able to get her bailed and brought home for good. She arrived home along with the gelding Smokey on June 18, 2024!
Gypsy was supposedly halter trained, however it became immediately clear when she arrived that she does not enjoy human interaction and is still extremely fearful of humans, even more so than some of our horses that have had zero formal training.
Gypsy is missing the top of one of her ears! We are not sure what the cause of this is, but sometimes in the wild horses lose the tips of their ears to frostbite so it could be from that. Despite this flaw, she is one of the cutest little dun Mustangs ever to exist!!!
Gypsy will now approach and take some treats from a person, but she’s still extremely skeptical. It is likely that her prior training scared her so very much that she will have problems ever trusting a human. it is beautiful to see her relaxing day by day as she realizes she is safe and she will not be put through anymore terrifying training!
