Cassidy's Story:
Cassidy was born WILD in 2022. Cassidy was merely two years old when we found her listed at the kill pen destined to be slaughtered, but was kept with a stallion at her adoptive home so she is thought to be expecting a baby!
She was titled by the Bureau of Land Management on July 23rd, 2024! That means she and the other two mares she was dumped with, Feather and Heather, are definitely victims of the Adoption Incentive Program where the BLM gives the adopter $1,000 after the horse is titled and no longer under federal protection. Once landing at the McLean TX kill pen, she was given a ship date of September 10th, 2024 where she would have been shipped across the border to Mexico and used for her meat, unborn baby and all.
BUT the Nirvana Family stepped in and now she will receive sanctuary for life!
Cassidy is a beautiful sooty buckskin color and she has such a gentle spirit. She doesn’t care much for human interaction but will happily eat feed out a bucket while it’s held.
Cassidy is a great auntie to her herd mates Heather & Feather’s babies, and we wait to see if she is pregnant herself.
