Elsa's Story:
Elsa was born in 2019 in the wild! She was set to ship to slaughter from the McLean Texas kill pen, on July 2, 2024!
Fire Horse Refuge thankfully paid her bail in the nick of time and sent her here to Nirvana to sanctuary along with Velma, a mare from the Bowie, Texas kill pen!
When Elsa arrived, she was very very thin and had scars on the sides of her face from being trained and possibly left wearing ill fitting tack. She truly is the sweetest horse in the entire world! her dark eyes and bright white eyelashes are deep and inquisitive, as well as kind. As soon as you approach, she quickly comes over to say hello and get some pets! She loves her cheek stroked and flutters into a deeply relaxed state.
She does have some training and that combined with her small size and very willing and eager to partner with humans nature may make her a potential candidate for our kids program one day!
For now, she is getting healthy, enjoying her freedom and bonding with her best girlfriend Velma!
